Hi there! I'm Angela Wales and I’ve been a practicing fine artist for over a decade. I have a BA in Art History from UC Santa Barbara, and went on to earn an MFA from the Savannah College of Art & Design. And over the past 15 years or so I've been blessed to have had my paintings in galleries all across the U.S. from Seattle to New York City. So why create an intuitive/expressive arts studio? Why did I go through an intensive program with the amazingly awesome Chris Zydel to become a Master Facilitator of Intuitive Painting and Expressive Arts? Why do I want so deeply to share this practice with others?

It all got started because even though I was technically living my dream of being an artist, I wasn’t really feeling very happy or fulfilled. I wasn't truly living into my creativity. Eventually every brush stroke I placed on my canvas was a major effort. I was also burnt out on the whole art scene, the world of judgments and limitations on creativity. It seemed only small children and “real” artists were allowed to think of themselves as truly creative. And art could really only be understood and appreciated by those educated to do so. While this fed my ego as a “real” artist, it was empty calories that hurt my soul because I’ve always known that art is far bigger than that, far more powerful than that.

In my lengthy and varied search for healing this hurt, I discovered intuitive process painting, and my eyes and my heart were re-opened. Not only did I find joy in painting again, I found joy in life again. I discovered that this amazing practice is healing on all levels! It reminded me that no matter what form it ultimately takes, living into your creativity makes your soul come alive.

And, in spite of never having desired to be a teacher before, I knew I had to share this fun and yet amazingly profound practice, so even more people could reclaim the power of their own creativity! Whether it's in a group class/workshop setting, or working more intimately one-on-one, I LOVE getting to re-connect you to your authentic creative source, to your own unique, amazing, iridescent, radiant, creative expression.
